Election of School Board Members
Nonpartisan judicial and school board offices, nonpartisan special districts and local referendum questions are included in some primary elections. All registered voters, including those without party affiliation are entitled to receive and vote these ballots. At general elections, all voters receive the same ballot and may vote for any candidate or question on the ballot.
Election of Chairman and Vice Chairman
Each November, an organizational meeting of the school board is held with the superintendent of schools as chairman. Nominations for chairman and vice chairman are received and a vote takes place for each position. Designation of meeting dates for the following year are also determined at this time. Once the organizational meeting is adjourned, the newly appointed chairman and vice chairman take their positions and call to order the regular school board meeting.
