Endorsements
What’s an endorsement?
Endorsements are specializations that are earned as a result of taking certain coursework and meeting specific pre-requisites. Your position may require you to earn a certain endorsement in order to teach a specific student population.
How do I earn an endorsement?
The Professional Learning Department offers courses to help you earn various endorsements and add them to your certificate. See the menu below to explore which endorsements are available through our in-house vendor, Beacon Educator.
I need my Reading Endorsement.
There are many pathways to earn your Reading Endorsement. We’ve included an entire menu devoted to information about, requirements of, and pathways to becoming Reading Endorsed.
I’m “Out-of-Field.” What does this mean?
If you have been labeled as “Out-of-Field,” this means you are currently teaching in a subject area that does not match your certification. This can include having a student on your roster that requires an instructor to posess specialized training such as ESE, ESOL, Gifted, etc. The CCPS Instructional Contract details the timeline for remedying an “Out-of-Field” placement.
There are specific guidelines for each “Out-of-Field” classfiication. Speak to your administrator to establish a plan of action to return to an “In-Field” status.
I’m interested in an endorsement that’s not listed here.
If you are looking to earn an Endorsement that is not listed below, reach out to a Professional Learning Specialist to discuss and identify next steps for adding the endorsement to your certificate.
