Basic Aid Training

Basic first aid skills and injury prevention are taught to 8- to 10-year-olds or fourth through sixth-grade. This course is mainly taught as an after-school enrichment program or to specific youth groups. Cost: $20; book included. Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County

After-school program offered on site at LA Ainger Middle School.  The program includes homework time and help, indoor and outdoor games, and various other activities.  Club hours are 3:45-6:00pm daily when school is in session. Cost of membership is $10 per year.

We also offer after-school programs serving Myakka River Elementary and Vineland Elementary at our Englewood Club located at 3650 N. Access Road, just south of Spinnaker.

We serve Peace River Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Neil Armstrong Elementary, Port Charlotte Middle, and Murdock Middle at our Port Charlotte Club located in the Family Service Center at 21450 Gibralter Dr. Suite 10. Cost of membership is $40 per month per child.

Police Athletic League (PAL)

The Police Athletic Program at the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is an exciting opportunity to work and play sports with youths and give them crime prevention and law enforcement education at the same time. PAL focuses on academics, athletics and relationships between community and law enforcement. PAL offers after school and summer camp programs.

YMCA

The YMCA provides before and afterschool programs on premises at six schools.  Afterschool programs only are provided on premises at two schools, including Charlotte Harbor Center.  The staff provides a safe and enriching program for children who require care before or after school hours.

Registration fee is $25 for one child, or $35 for a family.  Weekly fee is $45 for afternoon only, and $55 for morning and afternoon care.  Discounts are given for multiple children.  YMCA scholarship assistance is available for those who qualify.

Hours before school are 6:30 a.m. to 8:15.  Afterschool hours begin when school ends and run until 6:00 p.m.  A nutritious afternoon snack is served.  Activities include homework help, arts and crafts, learning centers, indoor/outdoor games & sports, special projects, and guest speakers.  Programs are held at Charlotte Harbor Center, East Elementary, Deep Creek, Kingsway, Meadow Park, Neil Armstrong, Peace River, and Sallie Jones.  Due to playground restrictions, 4-yr-olds are not accepted at Deep Creek or Meadow Park.  Programs are also available during Intersession and SRD.
