CHARLOTTE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS RECEIVES $100,000 IN DISASTER RELIEF FUNDING
Charlotte County, Fla. (December 16, 2024) – Charlotte County Public Schools is proud to announce that Governor Ron DeSantis has awarded $100,000 to the Charlotte Local Education Foundation to assist with recovery efforts following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Milton.
This funding, part of the $7.8 million allocated through the Florida Disaster Fund, will support the dedicated teachers and staff who worked tirelessly to reopen schools in the wake of the storms.
“This funding provides vital support for our educators and families as we continue to recover and rebuild together,” said Superintendent of Schools Mark Vianello. “The resilience shown by our community in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton is inspiring, and these funds will help us further the work needed to restore stability and hope.”
The $100,000 award is part of a larger $500,000 allocation to school district foundations in Florida counties impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“This funding highlights the strength and resilience of our community,” said Charlotte County School Board Member Kim Amontree. “It enables us to address critical needs, ensuring our educators have the resources to continue their important work. We deeply appreciate the state’s recognition and investment in our recovery efforts.”
The district is proud to play a key role in recovery efforts and to work alongside local organizations to rebuild and support those in need. For more information about the Charlotte Local Education Foundation and its ongoing initiatives, please visit: https://charlotteschoolfoundation.org/
