Support that keeps students connected to learning

Technology can open doors to learning, and students and families deserve help when it gets confusing. Information & Technology Services works with schools to keep student devices and digital services dependable, accessible and focused on learning.

How we support students

  • Help schools maintain student devices and the systems used for classwork.
  • Support access to district-approved learning tools and digital resources.
  • Help students practice safe, respectful and responsible technology use.
  • Work with school teams to connect students with accessibility tools when needed.

How families can help

Encourage students to bring questions forward, handle devices with care and tell a teacher or school staff member when something is not working. For help with a student device, account or classroom platform, contact your child’s school so staff can identify the right support path.

Families can reinforce thoughtful habits at home: balance digital activities with sleep, reading, play, movement and time together; talk with children about what they are doing online; and ask for help when content or technology raises a concern.

Technology with purpose

Student devices are provided for use during the school day as part of instruction. Teachers select technology when it serves learning, accessibility, feedback, creation or collaboration. Digital tools work alongside discussion, books, hands-on activities and caring relationships.

Questions about student support, classroom use and balance

  • Technology is one tool among many. Teachers choose when it supports the lesson and students’ needs, balancing digital activities with reading, discussion, hands-on work, movement and relationships. The goal is purposeful use that helps students learn—not more screen time for its own sake.
  • We understand families have thoughtful questions about screens. Technology is chosen to support access and instruction; it does not replace books, conversation, play or hands-on learning. Teachers select tools for a purpose and balance them with other kinds of learning. If you have a concern about what works for your child, please talk with your child’s teacher or school.
  • If a device or digital service is getting in the way, start with your child’s teacher or school office. They can help identify the right next step. When asking for support, describe the device or service and what you’re seeing; never include a password or private student information in an open message.
